James Otis Jr. and Family

James Otis Jr. Thompson
November 17, 1917 - November 8, 1988

James was born in Barbour County, West Virginia, the son of James Otis Thompson, Sr. and Iris Goldie (Daugherty) Thompson.  He attended the Barbour County schools and graduated from Philippi High School with the Class of 1938.  Junior’s first job on public works programs was after he had graduated from high school when he went to work on WPA, Workers Progress Administration.  He took over our dad’s work order after our dad got hurt on the WPA.  In 1939, the month of May, he married Madge Fisher.  They had three children, Shirley Ruth, Carol Jean and James Rodney.  He worked for the Western Maryland Railroad Company in early 40's, 1942 and early part of 1943.  He was a mechanic, an electrician, and a musician.  He was a jack of all trades, and worked on TV’s and radios.  If people had something they couldn’t fix, they took it to Junior.  Junior was buried at the Mt. Liberty Cemetery next to his and my grandparents.

Junior’s children and Madge are living in Florida.

James Rodney married Lynn Maria Daugherty on February 26th, 1977 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Paul & Carol (Thompson) Leffew

Carol Jean Thompson married Paul Leffew on August 23rd, 1969.

The house below was formerly lived in by James Otis Thompson Sr. and Iris Thompson.
During the summer of 2004, it was renovated into the summer home for Paul and Carol Leffew.
